JAN Webcast Series – Navigating Pregnant Workers Fairness Act Accommodation Requests and Exploring the Interplay of the Americans with Disabilities Act

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires covered employers to make reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants and employees with known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless they cause an undue hardship. A similar accommodation process used under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) can be applied to explore and implement effective reasonable accommodation solutions under the PWFA. Gain insight into the nuances of accommodating workers who are pregnant by navigating the accommodation process with JAN. We will explore the intersections of the PWFA and ADA and offer practical strategies for providing reasonable accommodations and promoting an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Speakers:

Tracie DeFreitas, Program Leader, Director of Training and Outreach
Lisa Mathess, Principal Consultant, ADA Specialist
Lore Lee, Consultant
Jeanne Goldberg, Attorney Advisor, Office of General Counsel, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
